The Raid - A Very Short Story

I love blogging, so its very clear that I love English too - and I've always tried to ensure that it stays in a good position. So here goes a short story to keep my skills sharp! ;)

Team 6 get ready to storm the bunker and rescue the hostages, which have been hold up inside by an unknown militant cell.
Story after the jump:

It was not the first time that Team 6 was assigned to such a critical, and sensitive mission. To be blunt, Team 6 was made to handle these sort of missions, but nonetheless, even though they were trained for such situations, and that their failure rate was 0.00%, there was always a feeling in the back of their heads that sent chills down their spines.

The captain checked his NV goggles, and triggered the safety on for his weapon while he was standing with his team. He was cautious every time, and didn't take any risks. He double checked his weapon, and made sure that everything was in order for the final raid. As he did so the wireless communicate device echoched loud, and clear:
"ETA 30 minutes boys. Make your final preparations"

The captain got uneasy after hearing this, he always thought the time was never enough, and the team  always thought that the captain was being a bit too "possessive" about safety and preparations. Not that it was his fault, he was a born leader after all and was captain of Team 6 for the last 2 years.

Somewhere after 30 minutes.....

Team 6 dug it's position outside the bunker. Gladly, it wasn't a rainy weather, however the wind was blowing which was perfect to mask the sounds of gun-shots and creeping footsteps of the team as they would approach the bunker door and raid in.

It was time. The captain raised his clenched fist into the air so as the team could see and signaled his squad to advance towards the door and set up a perimeter.
The squad silently, but quickly advanced towards the door and covered it. One of the squad member took his pistol and silently blew up the bulb above the door.

A moment of silence followed.
"Its good, no one heard us, plant the charges and prepare for the final blow" whispered the captain to his team
"Aye aye captain" whispered the demolitions expert.

The demolition expert carefully set a round molded C4 onto the door. Considering it was a bunker, the blast was going to be big, and very loud. Enough to knock the glasses out of someones house.

"Sir, the charges our set. Setting timer to 45 seconds" whispered the demolition expert. The moment he tapped in the numerical, everyone started moving back and ensure that the only thing being blown up was the door, and not them.

As the timer decreased by -1 second, Team 6 got more and more concentrated. Not a sound came from them. The only sound was of the gusty wind, and their slow breathing. Everything was quiet.

"3....2......1"

BOOM! The C4 exploded with a mighty uproar of sound, blasting the bunker door out of its place. Team 6 rushed in with their weapons set into burst mode.

*POP sound* and the smoke grenades went off which Team 6 fragged into the room. It was total chaos.
Gunfire ensued as the militants rushed to get their weapons, an advantage to Team 6 of catching them surprised.

One of the militants moved towards one of the hostages when one of the Team 6 member let a volley of burst come out of his gun.

The militant was sent airborne as the bullets splattered his cranium. His body lifeless, fell like a dummy.

It was all in a matter of seconds. A blink of an eye. Within seconds the gunfire stopped and the room fell into a dreadful silence as Team 6 took complete control of the situation.

No hostage was harmed, but the same could not be said for the militants who now lay lifeless on the floor, in a pool of blood.

The captain heaved a sigh of relief and closed his eyes for a second.....
It was all over.
